Junior Commercial Litigator / Solicitor

An established Cardiff law firm is looking to appoint a Junior Commercial Litigator to join its litigation team.

This is a good opportunity for a solicitor at the early stage of their career who wants to develop their experience in commercial litigation within an established and well regarded practice.

The firm has a long history in Cardiff and strong links with the local business and wider community. It has retained an independent and personal approach while developing a broad client base across South Wales.

The role

You will work alongside experienced litigators on a varied caseload of commercial disputes.

The work will include assisting with contractual disputes, professional negligence matters, property related disputes, debt recovery and other contentious commercial work.

You will have involvement throughout the life of matters, including legal research, drafting correspondence and pleadings, reviewing evidence, preparing cases for hearings and assisting with negotiations and settlements.

As your experience develops, you will be given increasing responsibility for your own matters and client relationships.

The role would suit someone who enjoys litigation and wants to develop their technical knowledge while gaining practical experience in dealing with clients and commercial issues.

About you

We are looking for a solicitor with some experience in litigation, either newly qualified or with a small amount of post qualification experience.

You should have a good understanding of civil litigation and a genuine interest in developing your career in commercial disputes.

You will be expected to have:

• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Good organisation and time management
• The ability to manage competing deadlines
• A practical approach to problem solving
• The confidence to communicate with clients and other professionals
• A willingness to learn and take responsibility

Previous commercial litigation experience would be useful, but we are also interested in candidates with a broader litigation background who are looking to develop in this area.

You will be working with experienced lawyers who have established relationships with businesses and individuals across Cardiff and South Wales.
