Legal Trainer – Residential Conveyancing

Location: Cardiff and Surronding areas (Hybrid / Remote)
Salary: Up to £50,000 (DOE)
Hours: Full Time

TSR Legal are pleased to be looking for an experienced Residential Conveyancing Legal Trainer to join an award winning legal team and provide technical guidance, training and quality oversight to a team of six Paralegals.

This is a predominantly non-client-facing role, with the Paralegals retaining ownership of their own files and continuing to manage the day-to-day conduct of matters. The successful candidate will provide technical support and sign-off at key stages of the conveyancing process, ensuring files meet the required legal, compliance and quality standards.

The Role

You will work closely with the Paralegal team, providing ongoing technical guidance, constructive feedback and file reviews at key checkpoints. This will include:

• Reviewing and signing off draft enquiries, ensuring they are appropriate, accurate and sufficiently comprehensive, while providing feedback on what else should be raised and why.
• Reviewing property searches and search reports, ensuring all relevant matters have been identified and appropriately reported to the client, with any further enquiries or action identified.
• Reviewing mortgage offer reports, checking that all relevant requirements have been considered and identifying anything that needs to be reported to the client or lender.
• Reviewing AML, proof and source of funds and risk assessments, ensuring all requirements have been satisfactorily completed.
• Providing pre-exchange file sign-off, ensuring the matter is ready to proceed and that no key issues or requirements have been missed.
• Providing technical coaching and feedback to help Paralegals develop their legal knowledge, judgement and confidence.
• Identifying recurring knowledge gaps and using these to shape targeted training and development across the team.
• Supporting consistency, quality and best practice across the conveyancing function.
• Providing limited holiday or absence cover where required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced residential conveyancer with a strong technical background and the ability to review, challenge and coach others effectively.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience in residential conveyancing, with a thorough understanding of the end-to-end transaction.
• Excellent technical knowledge and attention to detail.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, training or quality-checking junior conveyancers or paralegals.
• The ability to identify not just what is missing from a file, but why it matters and what action should be taken.
• Strong knowledge of conveyancing compliance, including AML, source of funds, lender requirements and risk assessment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide constructive, confidence-building feedback.
• A genuine interest in developing others and improving technical standards.

This would suit an experienced Conveyancer, Senior Conveyancer, Technical Manager, Supervisor or Legal Trainer looking to move into a more training and quality-focused position, without the demands of managing a large caseload.

Importantly, this is not a traditional fee-earning role. The Paralegals remain the file owners, with your expertise being used to provide technical oversight, guidance and sign-off at key stages, freeing up fee earners and supervisors to focus on their own caseloads.
