With law firms such as: Clarke Willmott, Lewis Silkin and Gordon Dadds opening offices in South Wales, it’s easy to see why legal organisations are looking to utilise the Welsh workforce.
As well as being highly cost-effective, Cardiff now boasts that 40% of its workforce is qualified to degree level (or equivalent). The city acts as the academic centre of excellence with the Russell Group Cardiff University, complemented by Cardiff Metropolitan and the University of South Wales within the region.
It’s not only Cardiff’s Law School that provides the legal market with well-educated candidates. Swansea and Aberystwyth Universities both hold host to their own law schools and recruit high-quality domestic and overseas students to produce well-educated and employable graduates and postgraduates.
These potential candidates have a thorough grounding in the fundamental principles of criminology, which allows them to progress into greater specialisations and successfully join the legal market.
Already home to a cluster of leading UK Law firms and legal organisations, Cardiff’s workforce sits at 325,000 people with transport links providing access to 1.4 million people living within a 30 minute commute.
In addition to the workforce in South Wales, the Central Cardiff Enterprise Zone provides a brand-new 140-acre business district at the heart of the city centre, which is testament to the spectacular economic growth seen within the area during the last decade.
Cardiff’s Central Square project ensures further investment and improvement into the city’s transport links. The on-going development (due to be completed in 2018) sees a complete overhaul of the current transport network to meet the needs of visitors, workers and residents in the city centre by providing: efficient, safe and sustainable access on a day-to-day basis.
This improvement in transport links within the city centre coincides with the £500 million Embankment development taking place along Dumballs Road. A key 33-acre brownfield site will soon contain in excess of 2150+ new homes within walking distance of the city centre.
