I’ve previously spoken about how the demand for high-quality support staff across London and the South East of England, particularly in the third quarter of this year, has increased.

The majority of the roles I recruit for in London and the South East continue to include a high number of legal secretarial vacancies across multiple areas of law.

As well as undertaking the fundamental secretarial responsibilities, as a legal secretary in the South East you’ll often work to a much more ‘all-round’ job description.

Greater Responsibility

More often than not, the legal secretary roles that I currently recruit for in the South East fall under one complete paralegal/legal secretary and legal assistant role.

Often as a legal secretary, your day to day activity can include:

• Managing a caseload
• Opening/closing files
• Finance and billing duties
• Flexible office support
• and liaising with external legal sources e.g. Companies House, Land Registry.

Some legal secretary roles that I currently recruit for may require you to cover reception if needed. That’s why strong organisational and communication skills are always beneficial if you’re looking to move into a new legal secretarial position in the South East of England.

Next Steps

When speaking with candidates who register with TSR Legal, I’m always keen to emphasise that when you’re structuring your CV for a new legal secretary vacancy, it’s always important to include more ‘all round’ responsibilities and duties carried out during your time with previous/current firms.
