Within the last two months, I’ve received far more vacancies from law firms residing outside of Birmingham city centre who are now offering highly-competitive employment packages.

Becoming Competitive with Benefits

Although city-based firms are continuing to prove attractive for those wanting to boost their salaries, more local firms are becoming competitive in their pursuit to offer a similar benefits package for the right candidate.

Numerous clients I work closely with can now offer: life assurance, maternity/adoption leave, parental leave, childcare vouchers and private medical insurance out side of the city.

Salaries Competitive Too

As well as offering an all round benefits package, more rural firms are also lowering the gap in salary expectations. In my experience, the gap between city-centre and non-city centre salaries is slowly decreasing, which makes working out of town far more attractive.

I currently have Paralegal, Legal Secretary and Fee Earner positions across: Telford, Kidderminster, Worcester, Bromsgrove, Ludlow and Warwickshire. Included in these roles is the chance to develop a wider range of legal experience and really get hands on with the work.

Closer to Home

The broader type of work is proving to be an attractive reason to relocate or work closer to home rather than taking on the arduous daily commute. As the salary gap continues to decrease and the benefits packages are reflecting more city-based firms, working in more rural areas could prove to become very popular going into 2017.
