Probate Senior Associate Solicitor – Up to £65,000 – Hybrid/Remote

TSR Legal has recently been instructed by a leading national legal services provider to recruit an experienced Probate Senior Associate Solicitor into its specialist Probate division. Based in the Bristol office, with considerable hybrid flexibility available for experienced lawyers.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established probate specialist looking to move away from the traditional Private Client model and concentrate almost entirely on complex estate administration within one of the UK’s largest specialist probate operations.

The organisation has a substantial national footprint and continues to grow its specialist probate teams, creating opportunities for experienced lawyers who want access to technically interesting work without the usual expectations around networking, building a following or generating new instructions.

The team is particularly interested in lawyers who have substantial experience managing estates from beginning to end and who are comfortable taking responsibility for complex and taxable estate administrations.

Your experience is likely to include higher-value or high-net-worth estates, inheritance tax, estates containing multiple properties and more complicated asset structures. Exposure to business assets, agricultural property relief or cross-border estates would be particularly valuable, although the team does not expect candidates to have dealt with every possible technical scenario.

What matters most is the depth of your estate administration experience, your technical judgement and your ability to confidently take ownership of complex matters.

You will manage a varied portfolio of estates while acting as an experienced technical resource within the wider probate team. Depending on your experience, there will also be opportunities to support and mentor less experienced case managers and lawyers as they develop their own technical probate knowledge.

The role is particularly attractive for Senior Associates currently working within traditional Private Client teams who find that probate is the part of their practice they most enjoy. This position allows you to focus on estate administration without Wills and LPAs forming a significant proportion of your workload.

There is also a very different approach to targets. New instructions are generated centrally, so there is no requirement to bring a client following or undertake networking to create work. The business operates on a fixed-fee basis rather than traditional hourly billing, with performance focused more closely on case progression, quality and client service.

The scale of the organisation also creates considerable variety in the estates coming into the team and genuine internal progression opportunities. Strong-performing senior lawyers can progress into more technically senior positions or people leadership, with an established framework for career and salary development.

Hybrid working is available and the organisation can offer greater flexibility for experienced Senior Associate-level lawyers. While some office presence is encouraged when joining, there can be scope for significantly reduced office attendance once established, particularly where experience and travelling distance support the arrangement.

The role offers a salary in the region of up to £65,000 depending on experience, hybrid/remote working, alongside an excellent wider benefits package and long-term progression within a growing national probate operation.
