This is an excellent opportunity for a Family Paralegal who is ready to take the next step in their career and manage their own caseload, dealing directly with clients and taking responsibility for progressing matters with a good level of autonomy.

The successful candidate will join a busy Family team handling a varied caseload, with work spanning divorce and separation, financial matters and children-related issues.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing and progressing your own caseload, providing clients with clear, professional support throughout their matter.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your own caseload of family law matters
  • Taking initial instructions and establishing client objectives
  • Progressing matters efficiently and proactively
  • Assisting with divorce and separation matters
  • Dealing with financial settlements and associated documentation
  • Supporting cases involving children and child arrangement matters
  • Preparing correspondence, statements, court documents and other legal documentation
  • Assisting with applications to the Family Court where required
  • Liaising with clients, solicitors, barristers, courts, Cafcass and other third parties
  • Preparing files for hearings and ensuring all relevant deadlines are met
  • Undertaking legal research where appropriate
  • Keeping clients regularly updated on the progress of their matters
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant case management records
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Family team while taking ownership of your own files

The firm’s Family team deals with a broad range of matters including divorce, financial settlements, child arrangements, separation and family court applications, providing clients with clear and practical advice throughout what can often be a challenging period.

About You

We are looking for a Family Law Paralegal who is confident managing their own caseload and is ready to take genuine responsibility for their files.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within a Family law team
  • The ability to manage your own caseload from instruction through to conclusion
  • A good understanding of family law procedures
  • Experience across divorce, finances and/or children matters
  • Strong drafting and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • A professional and empathetic approach to client care
  • The confidence to communicate directly with clients and third parties
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a wider team
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure

This role would suit a Family Paralegal, Legal Executive or Family Legal Assistant who has developed beyond a purely administrative position and is now looking for greater responsibility, ownership and career development.
