Conveyancing Assistant – Residential Property

TSR Legal is currently working with a successful and growing legal business that is looking to appoint a Conveyancing Assistant to join its residential property team in Cheltenham.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within residential conveyancing, whether you already have legal experience or are looking to take your first step into the profession.

You will work closely with Solicitors and Fee Earners, supporting the progression of residential property transactions and gaining exposure to a broad range of conveyancing matters.

The Role

As a Conveyancing Assistant, you will provide support throughout the conveyancing process, with responsibilities including:

  • Handling incoming calls, emails and other communications and responding to queries promptly
  • Assisting with the preparation and verification of new client care documentation
  • Completing client identification and source of funds checks
  • Assisting with title checks under the direction of a Fee Earner
  • Preparing and issuing contract packs
  • Obtaining redemption statements
  • Assisting with pre-contract enquiries on sale files
  • Preparing pre-completion documentation, including invoices and statements of account
  • Keeping the case management system fully updated
  • Monitoring and progressing tasks to ensure matters move forward efficiently
  • Providing general administrative and conveyancing support to Fee Earners
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents and other third parties
  • Building positive professional relationships through excellent client service
  • Completing tasks and assisting with wider departmental requirements as directed

About You

We are looking for someone who is professional, organised and genuinely interested in developing a career within residential property.

Previous conveyancing or legal experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. Candidates with strong administrative, customer service or graduate backgrounds who can demonstrate a genuine interest in property law will also be considered.

You will ideally have:

  • A strong interest in residential conveyancing and property law
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive approach to work
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to new systems and processes
  • Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A professional and client-focused approach
  • The ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines

Career Development

This role offers excellent long-term progression opportunities.

With the right development and support, there is scope to progress through the conveyancing team towards roles such as:

Senior Conveyancing Assistant → Conveyancing Paralegal → Fee Earner

You will have access to structured training and a professional development plan, with potential study support available for relevant professional qualifications.

This makes the role particularly suited to someone who is looking to establish a genuine career within residential conveyancing rather than simply seeking their next administrative position.

Benefits

The role comes with a strong benefits package, including:

  • Competitive salary
  • Quarterly bonus scheme
  • Company pension
  • Birthday leave
  • Additional annual leave opportunities
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Subsidised travel and parking
  • Modern office environment
  • Discounts with selected local businesses and venues
  • Regular team and company events
  • Employee recognition initiatives
  • Potential study support for relevant qualifications
  • Additional incentives and rewards

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing residential conveyancing team in Cheltenham, with genuine scope to develop your knowledge, take on increasing responsibility and progress your career.

Whether you already have some conveyancing experience or are a graduate or legal administrator looking to move into property, TSR Legal would be keen to hear from you.
