Conveyancing Assistant

The Opportunity

TSR Legal is working in partnership with a growing, forward-thinking law firm to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant to join its friendly and expanding residential property team in Cheltenham.

The firm specialises in residential property and handles a varied range of transactions, from everyday home moves to high-value properties. Importantly, this role offers a clear pathway for progression, with opportunities to develop into a Senior Conveyancing Assistant, Paralegal or eventually a fee-earning position. The Role

Working closely with Solicitors and Conveyancing Fee Earners, you will support the progression of residential property transactions and help ensure clients receive an efficient, professional service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling incoming telephone calls, emails and client enquiries, ensuring responses are dealt with promptly and professionally.
  • Preparing and processing new client care documentation electronically.
  • Completing client identification, verification and source-of-funds checks in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Carrying out title checks under the direction of a Fee Earner.
  • Preparing and issuing contract packs.
  • Obtaining mortgage redemption statements.
  • Assisting with pre-contract enquiries on sale files under appropriate supervision.
  • Preparing pre-completion documentation, including invoices and statements of account.
  • Updating the case management system to ensure files accurately reflect the progress of each transaction.
  • Supporting Solicitors and Fee Earners with day-to-day tasks to keep matters moving efficiently.
  • Liaising with clients and third parties, maintaining excellent working relationships and delivering a high standard of customer service.

This is a varied role where you will gain hands-on experience across the conveyancing process, developing your technical knowledge and confidence as you progress.

About You

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and keen to develop a career in residential property.

You may already be working as a Conveyancing Assistant, Legal Assistant or Paralegal, or you may be looking to enter the legal profession for the first time.

Ideally, you will have:

  • An interest in residential property and conveyancing.
  • Previous legal or conveyancing experience, although this is not essential.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Confidence using IT systems and a willingness to embrace new technology.
  • A professional and approachable manner when dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

A relevant university degree or previous legal experience would be advantageous, but the firm is also keen to hear from candidates with the right attitude, enthusiasm and potential.
