Business Development Assistant

TSR Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading international organisation with the recruitment of a Business Development Assistant to join its growing team in Swansea.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded and organised individual looking to develop their career within business development, sales and marketing.
Working as part of a close-knit team, you will support the wider Business Development function across the EMEA region, helping to develop client relationships, qualify new opportunities, generate demand and support a range of market-facing activity.
The Role
As Business Development Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the team to achieve its commercial targets and build strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Qualifying incoming leads and ensuring opportunities are appropriately allocated.
- Arranging appointments for Business Development Executives and Managers.
- Following up with prospects and previous customers to generate new opportunities.
- Supporting post-event follow-up and gathering feedback from delegates.
- Creating targeted prospect lists using relevant systems and resources.
- Producing progress and performance reports.
- Supporting the promotion of events through appropriate social media channels.
- Making invitation calls to key contacts and VIPs for specific events.
- Supporting tactical marketing and promotional activity.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records across CRM systems.
- Regularly reviewing and cleansing customer and contact data.
- Supporting the management of LinkedIn and CRM contact information.
- Working alongside data teams to profile and identify target accounts.
- Supporting webinar attendance and meetings generated through trade events.
- Assisting with tender and procurement activity where required.
- Supporting invoicing and aged debt processes for relevant accounts.
- Providing a high level of customer service to existing and prospective clients.
- Supporting the wider Business Development team with administration and ad-hoc projects.
About You
We are looking for someone who is commercially focused, confident and highly organised, with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a sales, business development or marketing environment.
- A strong commercial mindset and enthusiasm for achieving targets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence speaking with customers and prospects over the telephone.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- The ability to work towards individual and team KPIs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to build relationships at all levels.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience using LinkedIn and social media for business purposes.
- A proactive approach with the ability to use initiative and creativity.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a close-knit team.
- A genuine commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to events across Europe when required.
Desirable Skills
It would be advantageous if you also have:
- Fluency in another modern European language.
- Experience converting or closing qualified leads.
- Knowledge or interest in the cyber security or technology sector.
- Experience using Salesforce, Tableau or similar CRM/reporting platforms.
