Associate / Senior Associate – Commercial Litigation

About the Opportunity

An established and highly regarded UK law firm is looking to appoint an Associate or Senior Associate to join its Commercial Litigation team based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing practice with a strong reputation for handling complex commercial disputes across a broad range of sectors.

Working as part of a growing team, you will support experienced partners while also managing your own caseload. The successful candidate will play a key role in the continued growth of the Birmingham practice and will have significant opportunities for career progression.

The Role

You will advise a diverse client base, including commercial businesses, corporates and owner-managed organisations, on a wide variety of contentious matters, including:

• Commercial contract disputes
• Professional negligence claims
• Banking and finance disputes
• Intellectual property litigation
• Defamation
• Fraud and asset recovery
• Procurement disputes
• Partnership and shareholder disputes
• Other complex commercial litigation matters

Alongside managing your own files, you will assist on high-value and strategically important litigation, working closely with senior members of the team.

You will also be encouraged to contribute to business development initiatives, build client relationships, and play an active role in the continued success and growth of the practice.

Candidate Profile

Applications are welcomed from solicitors with approximately 2-8 years’ PQE in Commercial Litigation, although candidates outside this range with relevant experience will also be considered.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Strong technical experience in commercial litigation
• Excellent drafting, communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to manage a varied caseload independently
• Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to problem solving
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• A proactive and collaborative working style
• Excellent client relationship and business development skills
• A strong academic background
